OPS - Journal Layout Designer Job Description
The Center for Arts in Medicine in the College of the Arts seeks a layout designer to join us in formatting submissions for our digital journal, Perspectives on Arts in Health. Perspectives on Arts in Health is an open-access, peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing practice and research at the intersection of arts and health. Format content to Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform Arrange page layouts, text, images, and graphics for digital publication Manipulate type size, font, spacing, and column width to arrange content Conduct a final proofread of formatted content for accuracy before publication Collaborate with the layout copy editor to create journal style guides and submission templates Fixes issues that may arise with the website platform Other tasks as assigned by the editor (Center Director). Expected Salary
$40/hour Required Qualifications
B.A. in English, communications, journalism, or related field. Able to work up to 10 hours per week Preferred
1-2 years of experience in layout design Experience using a publishing management system (Open Journal Systems) or similar Content Management System (CMS) Initiative to learn new technologies and programs, as needed Proven attention to detail and initiative to meet deadlines without prompting Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.
