Job Summary The Director of IT is the chief information technology officer responsible for managing and supervising the organization’s IT department and ensuring all technology systems and applications support the organization’s goals and objectives.
Essential Job Duties
Oversee all technology operations, strategy, and policies within The New York Historical;
Monitor and ensure efficient workflow of IT staff for all IT related services to maximize productivity;
Coordinate with all organization departments to determine and address their IT needs;
Manage and supervise employees in the IT department including those overseeing web, central servers, and employee desktop systems; including recruitment, training, development, evaluation of IT staff;
Identify vulnerabilities, the need for upgrades, and opportunities for improvement; recommend to the CFO strategic solutions, new systems, and software;
Monitor cybersecurity systems and status, respond to threats and proactively harden and secure the organization’s technology and data resources;
Maintain relationships with outside IT vendors and service providers;
Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software;
Provide expert knowledge of IT operations; including virtualization, databases, networking, and remote operations;
Preserve assets by implementing robust back-up procedures, disaster recovery, business continuity, and information security and control structures;
Implement and support access and collaboration tools and services such as Box, Zoom, Slack, Google Workspace, Zendesk and VOIP infrastructure;
Create, evaluate, and update information systems policies and procedures;
Manage ongoing training opportunities for organization employees;
Provide helpdesk support to staff;
Maintain inventory of IT desktop and network equipment and document all facets of IT network operations;
Travel is required to all sites;
Additional duties as requested.
Requirements
A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management with at least 7 years experience in administration and staff management; experience in a non-profit setting a plus;
Experience using information technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, planning of data/information processing, user services, or area networks;
Proven experience with management, leadership, and technology of cloud infrastructure services such as AWS and Azure;
Proven experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite and Google suite; PC hardware/software, desktop, and laptop network configuration; connectivity troubleshooting, including DHCP, and DNS configurations;
Proven experience of computer systems hardware/software including diagnosis and resolution of related problems, networks, security, telecommunications, databases, and storage systems;
Proven experience with network and systems administration, including but not limited to managed switches, firewalls, LAN and WAN security, IP telephony, wireless systems, Microsoft & Apple operating systems, mobile devices, VMWare, Windows Server management, and Cloud Service applications;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills dealing with both tech savvy and non-tech savvy users;
Experience with Google Admin console preferred;
MCSE and A+ certification a plus;
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field, master’s degree and/or technical certifications preferred.

Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $175,000 - $200,000 per year. The successful candidate will be offered a salary within this range based on specific factors such as their individual qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
