The
Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
supports the Director of Nursing in providing
clinical leadership, operational oversight, and staff development
across multiple health center sites. This role plays a critical part in ensuring nursing and clinical support teams deliver
patient-centered, compliant, and high-quality care
in alignment with TFHC policies, HRSA requirements, and accreditation standards. The ADON works closely with nursing leadership, medical providers, and operational teams to support integrated primary care, behavioral health, and preventive services while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Leadership & Management
Support the Director of Nursing in overseeing day-to-day nursing and clinical operations across multiple sites Travel between health center locations to provide direct supervision, coaching, and mentorship to RNs, LPNs, Medical Assistants, lab teams, and other clinical staff Assist with planning, developing, and implementing nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols Participate in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations Serve as Acting Director of Nursing in the DON’s absence, as needed Monitor clinical supply inventory and ensure sites are appropriately stocked Maintain timecards and PTO tracking for clinical leadership staff Clinical Operations
Ensure delivery of high-quality nursing services across adult medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health, and specialty clinics Collaborate with medical and operational leadership to improve workflows, patient access, and throughput Monitor infection control, medication management, and safety practices in compliance with OSHA, CDC, and HRSA standards Oversee vaccine management, including VFC compliance and inventory controls Support staffing coordination to ensure appropriate clinical coverage across sites Assist with employee health programs, including TB screening, FIT testing, and vaccination administration Quality Improvement & Compliance
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data review, and root cause analyses Support HRSA program requirements, including clinical quality measures, UDS reporting, and risk management Perform chart reviews and ensure documentation compliance for UDS data collection Assist with preparation for audits, site visits, and accreditation surveys Education & Staff Development
Develop and deliver clinical education and training programs for nursing and medical assistant staff Promote evidence-based practice, continuing education, and interdisciplinary collaboration Serve as a clinical resource for complex patient care situations and new clinical initiatives Patient Care & Advocacy
Promote culturally competent care that addresses health disparities and social determinants of health Support patient education, engagement, and self-management Address patient complaints and clinical incidents per policy Provide direct nursing care as needed, including medication administration, injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and triage Qualifications
Education & Licensure Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current
BLS certification Experience Minimum of
3 years of clinical nursing experience At least
2 years in a leadership or supervisory role Experience in
community health, ambulatory care, or FQHC settings
strongly preferred Experience with
HRSA compliance, population health, and value-based care models
preferred Skills & Abilities
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary, multicultural environment Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (HRSA, OSHA, HIPAA, AAAHC, NCQA, CLIA) Proficiency with electronic health records, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment Why Join TFHC?
