This position provides support to various school sites within our Inland Empire and High Desert regions. The role may require travel between locations to meet site‑specific needs.

This position is funded through the CA Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) Grant

How You Will Make an Impact The

Parent Engagement Liaison

serves as the school liaison between parents, teachers, and school employees. The parent liaison implements and manages school-wide parenting initiatives and activities to empower parents to become positive active participants in the education of their children in alignment to the school goals. Supports the principal and school leadership in documentation of parental involvement. This position reports to the Principal or designee.

Serves as the liaison between parents, teachers, and school employees.

Consult, support, and coordinate with school employees and school leadership (administration and teacher to establish and maintain ongoing parent activities, which support academic achievement and school-wide goals at home as well as school.

Provide the coordination, technical assistance, and other support necessary to assist and build the capacity of the school in planning and implementing effective parent and family involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance.

Promote strategies to support successful school and family interactions.

Promote teamwork by sharing knowledge, cooperating with others, participating in meetings and work groups, and supporting the goals and objectives of the school and sites.

Promote the importance of communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis through avenues such as participation in parent‑teacher conferences, reports to parents on their children’s progress, and volunteer opportunities in a language the family can understand.

Promote and support parent attendance and participation in school‑wide events such as Open House, Back‑to‑School Night, participation in PAC/Parent Advisory Committee meetings, ELAC/English Learner Advisory Committee meetings, and other events.

Provide excellent customer service by establishing positive relations with school personnel, representatives from external organizations and others; respond to phone calls, e‑mails, letters, and other communications.

Assist parents of children served by the school, as appropriate, in understanding academic standards and how to monitor a child’s progress and work with educators to improve the achievement of their children.

Coordinates parenting sessions, meetings, and activities.

Coordinates and implements outreach to parents of students.

Provides information to families regarding public and private resources available.

Recruit, coordinate and manage parent and community involvement in programs, advisory committees, school events and support.

Perform administrative duties, responsibilities and activities that may be assigned or changed from time to time.

Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Strong writing, oral communication, public speaking, and presentation skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

2 years’ experience in Family and School Relations, Community Outreach, Community Relation required.

Bachelor’s degree or 2 years equivalent experience in Community Outreach, Community Relations (equivalent experience is included in total years of professional experience).

Some evening student recruitment and/or evening meetings; occasionally working on Saturday and/or Sunday.

Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or other specific technology.

Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required.

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds of force (almost all office jobs).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination, high people engagement.

Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.

Frequent multi‑tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.

Working in a low to moderate noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures.
