YMCA Camp Classen is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and high-energy Equestrian Director to lead our beloved horseback program at the historic Collings Bar C Ranch. This key leadership role involves managing and expanding our equestrian offerings, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our guests—70% of whom participate in the horseback program—and aligning programs with the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Hire, train, and supervise wrangler staff to maintain high standards of safety, service, and engagement.
Develop and deliver quality trail rides and equestrian activities for guests of all ages and skill levels.
Oversee the Ranch Camp program during summer camp, ensuring it reflects our mission and provides meaningful experiences for campers.
Create and implement innovative new programs that enhance the equestrian experience and promote the YMCA’s values.
Ensure safety protocols, animal husbandry, and program standards are consistently maintained.
Foster a fun, energetic, and safe environment that engages children and adults alike.
Collaborate with camp leadership to integrate the equestrian program seamlessly into broader camp activities.
Maintain the health and well-being of horses and ensure proper care and safety procedures are followed.
Support marketing efforts to promote the equestrian program and increase participation.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in equestrian operations, including horse management, trail riding, and program development.
Strong leadership skills with experience in hiring, training, and supervising staff.
Passionate about working with children and creating memorable outdoor experiences.
High energy, enthusiastic, and committed to safety and quality.
Knowledge of YMCA mission and values preferred.
Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and handle horses safely and confidently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in equestrian instruction, safety, or animal care.
Experience working in a camp or youth development setting.
First Aid and CPR certified.
