Key responsibilities include leading the technical pre‑sales relationship, driving technical discovery, proposing robust technical architectures, demonstrating product capabilities, anticipating concerns, and offering creative solutions to build customer trust in Twilio’s solutions.
Presales Architects must be comfortable engaging with decision‑makers, demonstrating product capabilities, and creating solution designs based on specific customer needs. As a recognized pre‑sales expert and technical influencer, you will independently manage complex opportunities, communicate effectively across departments, and own the strategic vision for your organization across multiple calendar years. This role serves as the go‑to technical resource for the sales team, mentoring and uplifting peers while working independently to prevent becoming a single point of failure.
Responsibilities
Partner with Account Executives and Partner Account Managers to execute pre‑sales activities, including opportunity qualification, demonstrations, Proof‑of‑Concept (PoC), RFP responses, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
Lead the technical and product sale, recommending best‑practice solutions and guiding customers on effective use of Twilio’s APIs to ensure customer success.
Establish trust with customers’ senior leadership teams by leading technical discovery to understand customer pains and designing, demonstrating, and presenting innovative solutions that solve business challenges.
Build and present highly interactive, complex, and engaging customer product demonstrations showcasing Twilio’s Communications Products capabilities, fostering strong relationships with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Proactively identify team or organizational needs, documenting them in depth, evaluating criticality, and proposing strategies for solution implementation.
Contribute to the broader Twilio Presales Engineering community through knowledge sharing, constructing demonstration materials, and creating reusable presentations.
Mentor less experienced Presales Engineers and frequently act as a facilitator or team leader.
Serve as a presenter at Twilio-sponsored, industry, and internal events.

Required Skills & Experience:
12+ years of pre‑sales experience selling complex, technical products or 12+ years of professional experience supporting technical products coupled with customer‑facing experience (e.g., delivery or consulting).
Exceptional communicator and presenter capable of gaining audience confidence and effectively communicating the ROI of products across various customer use cases.
Ability to deeply understand a customer’s communications needs and guide them toward a technical solution.
Previous experience supporting products and technologies, including communicating product ROI across various use cases.
Demonstrated exceptional technical proficiency and thought leadership, actively contributing to shaping team strategy.
Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively communicating strategic vision, inspiring, and influencing internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Customer‑focused problem solver, skilled at balancing innovative technical solutions with prioritizing the customer’s best interests.
Previous software development experience or working knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP)
Web development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, frontend frameworks - React, Vue.js, Angular)
Experience building with REST APIs
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and cloud application architecture.
Previous experience in Telecom, SIP, Contact Center, or Security.
Experience with sales methodologies.
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.
Previous experience working with partners (i.e., channel, System Integrator, ISV, etc.).
Desired Qualifications:
Experience managing strategic accounts and evangelizing new use cases and technology in the public sector vertical.
Experience in Social Impact, Healthcare, or Public Sector verticals.
Demonstrated personal interest in the social impact sector.
Location & Travel This is a remote role. Note: This position is not eligible to be hired in CT, NJ, NY, WA, PA, or the surrounding areas of San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, or San Jose, CA.
Approximately 25% travel is anticipated for in‑person connection with customers and colleagues.

Estimated pay ranges (for candidates hired in CO, HI, MN, VT, DC, IL, MD, MA, CA, NY, NJ, WA):
Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Minnesota or Vermont: $163,640.00 - $204,550.00.
Based in Washington D.C., Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay Area): $172,736.00 - $215,920.00.
Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or the San Francisco Bay area, California: $181,824.00 - $227,280.00.
