Director of Cannabis Production
will guide teams across the Oneida Indian Nation's cannabis enterprise bringing industry expertise in product knowledge, regulatory compliance, inventory control, and business development.
Duties & Responsibilities Management and Administration
Provides general oversight of all operational activities and manages the day-to-day operations, assuring a smoothly functioning, efficient organization
Develops and implements standards and controls, systems and procedures, and regularly evaluates performance
Demonstrates sound financial management and modeling including cost-of-goods-sold, supply chain management, and overall P&L responsibility for the business to maximize return on investment and profitability for the Nation
Assures a safe and productive work environment that recruits, retains and supports quality staff and maintains a process for selecting, development, motivating, and evaluating staff performance
Develops effective sales and marketing plans that effectively leverage the Nation's reputation for quality and service
Actively supports customer engagement and reputation management strategies and responds to customer feedback and market demand
Works collaboratively with the Nation's executive management team and support departments
Cultivation
Develops and maintains strong relationships with suppliers and industry resources to ensure the Nation's products and cultivation techniques remain current in an ever-changing and growing industry
Demonstrates full understanding and oversight of cannabis growing and cultivation operations and establishes and applies effective quality control standards and metrics
Ensures strict adherence and documentation of all products, treatments and strategies used in growing operations
Manufacturing
Oversees the full manufacturing process including harvesting, processing and packaging of products
Ensures diligent adherence to manufacturing safety and regulatory protocols
Inventory Control/Management
Selects and implements best-in-class inventory control/management systems
Sets standards for daily product inventory counts at all stages of the product life cycle; adheres to diligent inventory reporting and variance investigation standards
Establishes product warehousing and transportation standards and schedules
Appropriately secures all inventory and product and cooperates with independent security and surveillance operations
Compliance
Diligently adheres to Oneida Indian Nation ordinances and regulation and applicable laws to affirm the Nation's reputation as a responsible cannabis enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field required; MBA preferred
At least 5 years of top management experience in commercial agricultural production, preferably in the cannabis industry, with advanced knowledge of cannabis cultivation and production, inventory management and regulatory compliance
Previous business start-up experience required, with proven abilities in recommending appropriate capital investments and developing operating standards and policies
Excellent business acumen with entrepreneurial, analytical, financial, budgeting, supply chain and logistics skills; demonstrates a focus on innovation, operational efficiency and business development
Superior leadership skills with the ability to inspire confidence of leaders and the team, and to establish clear accountability and performance standards with a focus on staff development
Previous experience working in a highly-regulated environment preferred, with a strong record of compliance and accountability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to assert a clear vision for the enterprise, while effectively negotiating business terms, and handling sensitive matters with discretion
Strong technology skills with PC, web and social media aptitude, along with knowledge and experience in inventory management systems, point-of-sale systems and other industry-related technology.
