The mission of KNOX is to connect and empower our communities to grow a greener, healthier Hartford.
The Director of Fundraising leads efforts to raise over $1.35 million in traditional philanthropy to support the organization’s work to create a greener, healthier Hartford. The position serves as a key member of the organization’s management team reporting to the Executive Director and working effectively across departments and in the community. As a member of the management team, the Director of Fundraising is expected to model KNOX’s organizational values of teamwork and respect. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for plants, the environment, and enhancing the lives of others to the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES Organizational Leadership
Lead development and implementation of annual development plan and budget to raise over $1.35 million through combination of grants, sponsorships, membership program, fundraising events, and individual giving.
Provide input and support communications strategies to improve visibility of the organization.
Actively participate in management team meetings and discussions to improve organizational culture and results.
Serve as staff lead to the Fundraising Committee of the Board of Directors, including attending Board meetings.
Represent KNOX at events.
Fundraising
Build and manage relationships with donors and funders.
Lead efforts to grow individual giving program, including annual appeal(s) and donor engagement.
Direct efforts to implement major and planned giving strategies and steward organization’s top donors.
Identify and recruit new corporate sponsors, individual donors, and grants to support and expand the organization’s programs and operations.
Oversee tracking systems to collect program outcomes and participant stories to effectively steward donations.
Maintain systems to track and cultivate KNOX donors and supporters.
Events & Administration
Partner with volunteers and staff to plan fundraising and membership events throughout the year to grow revenue and increase exposure of KNOX and its mission within the community.
Oversee acknowledgement and recognition process for corporate, individual, and public funding organizations.
Lead implementation of DonorPerfect database to track and analyze donor engagement.
Collaborate with Executive Director to oversee grant consultant.
Assist in implementation of organizational events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to KNOX’s mission and to fostering a culture of teamwork and respect.
3 to 5 years fundraising and/or marketing experience.
Bachelor’s degree required.
A passionate fundraiser with experience cultivating positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Experience collaborating on highly performing teams.
Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Computer software experience, including but not limited to fundraising software, Constant Contact, and Microsoft Office.
