About the Role As a
Software QA Specialist
supporting Lab Operations Tools, you will make an impact by ensuring delivery quality across software products that support engineering and operational workflows. You will play a critical role in validating user interface components, backend integrations, APIs, and system interoperability, while collaborating closely with engineering teams to maintain a consistent weekly release cadence.
You will be a valued member of the engineering operations ecosystem, contributing to software quality practices that strengthen reliability, accelerate delivery, and enhance user experience across lab tooling platforms.
What You’ll Do In this role, you will:
Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive software test plans across UI, backend integrations, APIs, and functional areas.
Perform white‑box and black‑box testing, user workflow validation, and data verification activities.
Prioritize and complete testing activities iteratively to meet weekly release timelines.
Track QA results, log detailed defect documentation, and report issues using Rally.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Ensure interoperability, system integration, and end‑to‑end workflow quality across tools and platforms.
Contribute to the creation and execution of automated QA test suites.
Identify gaps in software quality, recommend improvements, and support continuous enhancement of test methodologies.
Who You Are You are a detail‑oriented software QA professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in fast‑paced engineering environments.
You would be described as:
Highly skilled in software testing methodologies with experience validating complex systems and workflows.
Comfortable performing both white‑box and black‑box testing activities.
Adept at owning QA activities with minimal supervision and delivering high‑quality outcomes under short release cycles.
Collaborative, clear in communication, and able to work effectively across engineering and product teams.
Someone who thrives in Agile/Scrum environments and adapts quickly to evolving requirements.
What You Must Have to Be Considered
Demonstrated experience in software testing and quality assurance.
Ability to independently develop and execute QA test plans.
Strong experience in white‑box, black‑box, integration, data verification, and UI testing.
Experience documenting defects clearly and comprehensively.
Familiarity working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Experience with API validation and backend service testing.
Exposure to Rally or similar defect‑tracking tools.
Familiarity with Ruby and Rails.
Experience in automated QA testing and building automated test suites.
