As the Director of Strategic Communications, you’ll lead our brand, public relations, and internal communications strategy—partnering closely with senior leaders to ensure our story is consistent, authentic, and aligned to our values. You’ll drive everything from executive messaging and change communications to media outreach and global brand expansion, helping shape the voice of VB Spine as we continue to grow and enter new markets.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Set the overall vision and strategy for the company’s communications, ensuring alignment with business goals, culture, and evolving organizational needs.
Lead cross-functional communication initiatives, including internal messaging and change management efforts that support employee engagement.
Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, helping translate business priorities into compelling, consistent communications.
Serve as a core leader on cross-functional OUS markets team, partnering on overall expansion planning and owning communications strategy and execution as VB Spine enters and onboards new countries.
Ensure the communications function supports and strengthens the company’s long-term strategy and values.
Brand Management
Serve as guardian of the company brand, defining and evolving brand positioning, tone, and visual identity across all channels.
Partner closely with marketing and commercial teams to ensure the brands of individual product portfolios align with the VB Spine brand.
Oversee development of all marketing communications, including campaign messaging, collateral, digital assets, and creative execution.
Direct agency relationships related to brand strategy, creative development, and marketing communications, holding partners accountable to quality, timelines, and budget.
Public Relations & External Communications
Lead the development and execution of a proactive PR strategy to build company visibility and manage public reputation.
Cultivate strong media relationships, oversee earned media outreach, and coordinate public-facing content such as press releases, executive thought leadership, and speaking opportunities.
Guide media planning and ad buys in collaboration with agency partners and marketing, ensuring the right mix of channels and messaging for target audiences.
Monitor industry narratives, competitor activity, and social sentiment to inform messaging and reputation management strategies.
Employee Communications & Change Management
Own the internal communications strategy and cadence, ensuring employees receive timely, clear updates that build understanding, trust, and alignment.
Lead communication planning for major change initiatives, partnering closely cross-functionally.
Build leader and manager toolkits (talking points, FAQs) to help leaders communicate consistently and confidently.
Team Development & Executional Excellence
Direct, coach, and develop a high-performing communications team.
Set a high standard for quality, clarity, and creativity across all content, providing hands-on feedback and mentorship.
Cultivate a team culture that values collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
Establish clear KPIs for communications activities and lead regular performance reviews to optimize impact, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.
What You Bring
10+ years of work experience required
7+ years medical device and marketing/sales experience preferred
4+ years of people management experience highly preferred
Excellent presentation and interpersonal communications skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering on established timelines
Ability to be persuasive in the absence of organizational authority
Must be able to understand and work within complex interdivisional procedures and policies

Compensation & Benefits Compensation:
Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, with additional factors like territory requirements, qualifications, and performance taken into account. The typical pay range for this position is
$175,000 – $225,000
annually, with potential for bonuses and incentives plus benefits.
VB Spine reserves the right to offer compensation outside of this listed range. Final compensation is determined on a
case-by-case basis
and considers a variety of factors including experience level, skillset, and market conditions.
