Regulatory Specialist

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Duration:

3–5 years of regulatory compliance experience, preferably within food, beverage, flavor, cosmetic, or oral‑care industries.
Job Overview The Regulatory Specialist supports regulatory compliance across ingredients, flavors, and food bases. This role maintains regulatory data, prepares and manages documentation, and serves as a regulatory resource for internal teams and external customers in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.

Technical understanding of regulatory documentation with the ability to research and interpret rules and guidance.
Proficiency in FDA and Canadian regulations; familiarity with EU food and flavor regulations preferred.
USDA labeling experience preferred.
Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
Ability to translate regulatory topics for non‑regulatory audiences (Sales, R&D).
Ability to prioritize and perform under pressure with minimal supervision.
High attention to detail to minimize internal and external complaints.
Description of Work Performed
Maintain regulatory data through vendor communication, interpretation of documentation, and creation and upkeep of technical data in company databases for ingredients and finished products.
Coordinate cross‑functionally to create, issue, and update regulatory documents, including specifications, ingredient and allergen statements, nutrition information, GMO status, organic compliance, Kosher, Halal, country compliance, country of origin, SDS, and related materials.
Assess pending formula revisions and communicate required change notices.
Assist with managing, reviewing, and revising Regulatory ISO work instructions and applying regulatory or client policies and practices.
Maintain local Regulatory intranet content and customer purchasing specifications.
Serve as a regulatory information resource for internal and external customers, providing education and guidance to R&D and commercial teams.
Communicate with external governing agencies, third‑party certifiers, and trade associations.
Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Complete additional duties and special assignments, including occasional travel to corporate offices or industry functions, as needed.
Education & Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of regulatory compliance experience, preferably within food, beverage, flavor, cosmetic, or oral‑care industries.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; laboratory analytical experience is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office with the ability to learn ERP systems and internal software.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities; project management experience is beneficial.
