About This Role: This position provides administrative support to the Director of Social Services, serving as a key liaison among various Department programs, DSS leadership, and external community partners. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the Department’s operational efficiency by effectively managing communications, coordinating priorities across multiple initiatives, and ensuring that all agency projects are followed through to completion. The individual in this position will facilitate collaboration among stakeholders and streamline processes, thereby helping the Department achieve its strategic goals.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of related Administrative experience.
Preferences:
Advanced organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage calendars, coordinate meetings, prioritize competing tasks, and consistently meet tight deadlines.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence, reports, and presentations.
High level of discretion and professionalism, with proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and sound judgment.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with specialized expertise in PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. Experience with creating executive-level presentations and documents.
Strong administrative and office management skills, including overseeing daily office operations, ordering and managing office supplies, and improving workflow efficiency.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, effectively communicating and building relationships across all levels of staff and management.
Proven experience serving as a liaison between executive leadership and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and follow-through.
Special Requirements:
All DSS staff are required to provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster.
Candidates must pass criminal history, child protective services, and DMV background checks.
The Prince William County Department of Social Services may not employ resource/foster parents for youth in the Prince William foster-care program. Resource/foster parents for youth from other localities are welcome to apply.
Staff in this position must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive for work.
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening hours required to support special events or meetings.
Telework eligibility is subject to change as business needs dictate; there is no guarantee of future teleworking arrangements.
Hiring Salary Range : $28.32 to $40.69 hourly
