Role Overview
The Director of IT and Security will lead Waldom’s global IT operations and cybersecurity strategy while being deeply hands-on in execution. This role is mission-critical in establishing Waldom’s independent, secure, and compliant technology environment. The Director will manage a small, globally distributed team and personally contribute to technical tasks such as system configuration, migrations, and security implementations. Achieving ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications is a key deliverable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Separation & Independence
Lead the full IT transition from sister company shared resources to Waldom-owned infrastructure.
Design and implement Waldom’s AWS landing zone, identity architecture, and networking baseline.
Migrate servers, applications, and endpoints from shared environments to Waldom-controlled systems.
Remove all dependencies on sister company domains, networks, and security tools.
Strategic & Hands-On Leadership
Actively participate in technical work: AWS migrations, endpoint provisioning, network configuration, and security tool deployment.
Define and execute Waldom’s IT and security roadmap aligned with business goals.
Infrastructure & Cloud Management
Oversee AWS migration and optimization (servers, databases, DNS, storage).
Configure and manage Microsoft EntraID, Intune, and Autopilot for endpoint modernization.
Implement networking solutions (Meraki, VPN, RADIUS) and decommission legacy systems.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Establish cybersecurity operating model
Implement SIEM, MFA, SSO, and Zero Trust security frameworks.
Lead ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certification initiatives, including policy development, risk assessments, and audit readiness.
Ensure compliance with global data protection and security standards.
Team Leadership
Manage a small, global IT team (Sysadmins, Helpdesk, DevOps, Security Analysts).
Provide mentorship and hands-on support to team members.
Collaborate with external MSPs and vendors for specialized services.
Operational Excellence
Develop SOPs, monitoring dashboards, and governance processes.
Optimize IT costs and ensure high availability and resilience.
Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning.
Qualifications
10+ years in IT leadership roles with strong hands-on technical experience.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, cybersecurity or similar major.
Expertise in AWS architecture, migrations, and optimization.
Proficiency in Microsoft ecosystem (EntraID, Intune, Autopilot) and Zero Trust architecture.
Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools (CrowdStrike, Proofpoint, SIEM).
Strong knowledge of networking (Meraki, VPN, RADIUS) and identity management.
Proven track record in IT transformations and infrastructure migrations.
Experience leading ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certification projects.
Excellent leadership, vendor management, and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
CISSP or CISM
Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
