This function is part of the CIB D&A COO function and aims at bringing together existing CMB and GB D&A functions into a single CIB D&A Data & Analytics function. As part of this significant program of change, the function is expected to re‑design and rationalize the Analytics, Technology, Architecture and Data. We are seeking an Analyst – Business Consulting to join the Data Science chapter in our team. The person will play a key part in using the power of data to solve problems.
What you’ll do
Extract, transform, and load (ETL) from various sources, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and integrity. Design and optimise data pipelines, ensuring efficient data extraction, storage, and processing.
Extract and integrate data from external sources, such as public databases, social media platforms and third‑party vendors to enhance advanced analytics capabilities.
Conduct in‑depth analysis of complex transactional and demographic datasets to identify patterns for identifying risk and opportunities.
Develop innovative and impactful data‑based tools and models for propensity modelling and risk mitigation, continuously evaluate the effectiveness of models and make recommendations for improvements.
Engage various stakeholders to understand and collect project requirements, present analysis and results, make recommendations on strategy formulation and solicit project feedback.
Work with and leverage solutions and approaches developed by the wider HSBC Analytics community.
Own end‑to‑end delivery responsibility of Data Science projects and guide, train and mentor junior team members involved in the project.
Contribute to Data Science chapter initiatives at a CIB D&A level.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
Good to have knowledge of Banking domain use cases with specific applications to data science problems.
6+ years of relevant experience, preferably in banking and financial sector.
University degree in Computer Science, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or any other quantitative related discipline; PhD or Master’s degree is highly preferred.
Proficiency in using Python, SQL, or similar analytically oriented programming languages.
In‑depth knowledge and experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms. Experience with cloud analytics platforms such as GCP, Azure and AWS and big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.
Extensive technical skill in data mining, able to understand various data structures both structured and unstructured and common methods in data transformation.
High technical aptitude, problem‑solving abilities, intellectual curiosity, motivation and passion for data discovery.
Open‑minded and self‑motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong sense of responsibility.
Knowledge and good experience with data visualization tools such as Qlik Sense will be a strong plus.

The pay range for this role is 15,300 PLN - 22,000 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
