This internship offers the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in business-to-business sales, customer relations, estimating, and commercial operations within the construction materials industry. Based in our Newington, CT office, interns will work alongside experienced sales professionals while applying classroom learning in a fast-paced, real-world business environment./ppThis role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Communications, or Liberal Arts who are eager to explore careers in sales, account management, or customer solutions./ph3Key Responsibilities/h3pSales/Marketing/pulliSupport the sales team in promoting Tilcon products and services, particularly asphalt and aggregates./liliAssist in preparing customer quotes, sales reports, and marketing materials./liliShadow and participate in customer visits to develop strong business relationship-building skills./liliResearch and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to support business development initiatives./liliFollow up on sales leads and quotes in coordination with the commercial team./li/ulpCustomer Solutions/pulliAct as a supporting point of contact for customer inquiries, researching and collaborating with internal teams to provide information and solutions./liliAssist in validating billing ticket data and maintaining exemption certificates to ensure accuracy and compliance./liliDocument and track customer interactions to support effective follow-up and satisfaction./liliLearn root cause analysis techniques by assisting with investigations of recurring issues and identifying improvement opportunities./li/ulpEstimating/Administrative/pulliSupport review of job specifications, bid documents, and estimates to understand the sales process for construction materials./liliAssist with preparation of estimate sheets, contracts, subcontracts, and job worksheets./liliContribute to backlog and forecasting updates in coordination with the sales team./liliParticipate in cross-department collaboration with operations, finance, and dispatch to understand the end-to-end sales cycle./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3pEducation/Experience/pulliActively pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Communications, or Liberal Arts./liliPrior experience in customer service, sales, or administrative work is a plus but not required./liliFamiliarity with construction, aggregates, or asphalt products a plus but not required./li/ulpKnowledge/Skill Requirements/pulliStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail./liliExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and active listening./liliAbility to manage multiple tasks while prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced environment./liliProficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams); experience with Salesforce or CRM tools preferred./liliReliable, motivated, and eager to develop skills in sales and customer engagement./liliAbility to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills./li/ulpAdditional Information/pulliInterns must be available to work on-site in Newington, CT./liliOccasional field visits to project or production sites may be required.
