What you will do:

You will supervise and coordinate the audit and enforcement functions for the SCDOR under the direction of the Statewide Sales Tax Audit Manager and the initiatives of the agency Director.

Primary job duties include:

Supervising, planning, directing, and coordinating the work of Sales& Use Tax field audit staff assigned to the Business Tax Audit section

This includes coordinating audit selection and assignment and reviewing and approving audit results for accuracy and documentation

Reviewing filed appeals and issuing protest options letters

This includes interpreting complicated state tax laws and issues relating to appeals, holding conferences with taxpayers and their representatives, and addressing penalty waiver requests

Providing instructions, guidance, and procedures on administrative and technical matters pertaining to the operation of the section

Coordinating and leading the training of auditors

Scheduling public speakers and participating in tax training classes and seminars

A bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting or finance courses and professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation or analysis

Additional requirement:

A valid Driver’s License

A bachelor's degree in a business-related field

At least 18 hours of accounting and/or finance

And 5 years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation or analysis

Hours : Flexible hours may be available from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).

Telework schedule : This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week after one year of employment with SCDOR.

Office location : Depending on space availability, you may have the option to choose which SCDOR office you work in Columbia, Charleston, Florence, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, or Rock Hill.
