The Membership Director is a dynamic, people-centered leader who drives member engagement, growth, and connection at the Y. Working closely with the CEO and Director of Operations, this role helps shape and carry out the YMCA’s strategic vision while ensuring exceptional customer service, safety, and licensing standards. The Membership Director leads and develops staff, manages budgets and performance metrics, and oversees membership operations, from registrations and rentals to marketing and merchandise. With a strong focus on welcoming new members, retaining existing ones, and fostering a sense of belonging, this position plays a key role in strengthening community relationships, supporting fundraising efforts, and advancing the Y’s mission of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
Essential Experience and Skill Requirements:
5-7 years of experience in a related field.
CPR and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
Strong leadership skills.
Team player, with superb interpersonal skills. An ability to partner with co-workers and work with the public in a positive and friendly manner and resolve conflicts as needed.
Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, lead others, work independently, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
General computer skills with the ability to effectively learn and use new software.
Essential Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business management or the equivalent in education and closely related work experience.
