Responsibilities: Oversee the clinical care delivered to residents, ensuring adherence to evidence-based protocols and guidelines. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor individualized resident care plans. Promote a culture focused on quality care, resident safety, and satisfaction within the facility. Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations, including CMS and Department of Health standards. Lead quality improvement initiatives, such as reducing readmissions, managing medications effectively, and enhancing infection control. Provide ongoing education and training to medical and nursing staff on best practices, regulatory requirements, and new healthcare developments. Serve as the clinical liaison among the facility, hospital systems, and community providers while maintaining clear communication with families and staff. Participate in utilization review and cost management processes, optimizing resource use and reimbursement while reducing unnecessary medical costs.

Must-Have Skills: MD or DO with active, unrestricted medical license in Kentucky. Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatrics (preferred). Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings. Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, guidelines, and reimbursement structures. Demonstrated leadership abilities and a commitment to quality improvement and patient outcomes. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and medical software. Successful completion of a 90-day training period under a State CMO's oversight.

Nice-to-Have Skills: Board certification in Geriatrics. Experience mentoring healthcare providers and supporting staff development. Knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychotherapeutic modalities. Empathy, compassion, and a strong patient-centered care philosophy. Experience preparing for and participating in regulatory surveys and audits.
