A well-established moving company based in Springfield, VA is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Moving Logistics to oversee and optimise transportation, fleet, and warehouse operations. This is a senior-level role for a hands-on logistics expert who thrives on driving operational excellence, reducing costs, and delivering high-quality service in the moving and relocation industry.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead all logistics functions, including transportation, fleet, and warehouse management. Develop and execute strategies to improve routing, cut costs, and boost delivery performance. Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations and all applicable safety and transportation laws. Manage third-party logistics partners and vendor relationships to ensure service quality. Build, coach, and lead logistics teams to improve capability and performance. Collaborate with leadership teams to align logistics with wider business objectives. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management. Introduce and leverage technology for real-time tracking and logistics optimisation. Troubleshoot operational issues such as delays or service failures and implement solutions. Drive continuous improvement across the supply chain and delivery functions. Manage logistics budgets with a focus on cost efficiency and service excellence. Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and logistics best practices.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain,ideally within the moving industry. Strong leadership background with experience managing operational teams. Solid understanding of DOT compliance, transport laws, and fleet operations. Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyse performance and implement improvements. Proficient in logistics software, route planning tools, and Microsoft Office. Confident communicator and collaborator with strong problem-solving skills.
