Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. Applicants hired into this position can work hybrid from WI or IL. When in the office you will work at various locations throughout Madison.

The Director for Magnet & Nursing Excellence will lead initiatives that ensure full compliance with Magnet standards, identify and close gaps, and drive continuous improvement. This role partners closely with HR, nursing leadership, and shared governance councils to advance nursing practice.
We are seeking a
Director Magnet & Nursing Excellence
to:
Oversee Magnet program compliance and readiness for redesignation.
Direct Magnet‑related activities including Magnet documentation and data reporting requirements.
Partner with HR to support growth reviews and peer review.
Support and coach new employees in Magnet principles and shared governance.
Maintain a strong awareness of shared governance activities and accreditation standards.
Promote Evidence‑Based Practice (EBP) and foster a culture of inquiry.
Build strong relationships across nursing and interdisciplinary teams.
Lead large‑scale projects with significant scope and complexity.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing and Master's in Nursing, Healthcare, Administration or related field Required
Doctorate in Nursing or related field Preferred
Work Experience
3 years relevant progressive leadership experience Required
Current regulatory, accreditation and Joint Commission experience Required
Experience in a Magnet organization within the past 5 years Required
5 years relevant progressive leadership experience Preferred
Current experience leading in a Magnet organization Preferred
Experience in a large academic or complex health program Preferred
Evidence of participation in education or planning activities associated with a School of Nursing Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
Certification in a relevant specialty Preferred
