Responsibilities
Performs maintenance and repair tasks in such areas as electricity, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, carpentry, and boiler operation. Assists in maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors and appliances. Documents completions of man hours and supplies used in maintenance and repair to Agency Work Orders, in timely manners. Assist others departments with purchase requisitions as necessary to complete maintenance or repair. Makes emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work. Conducts routine inspections to ensure employees follow proper operating, maintenance and safety procedures for routine jobs.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent and trade experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of refrigeration, mechanical and boiler systems, plumbing, carpentry and heating, venting, air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
License in EPA – approved Freon recovery certification.
Additional Comments
Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in confined spaces; hot, hazardous and noisy locations; and in adverse weather conditions. Position requires participation in the on-call program and to work after hours, as on-call technician. A resume will not be accepted in lieu of an online South Carolina State Employment Application.
