Job Summary
The Director of the Project Management Office is responsible for recruiting, developing, and leading a multi‑disciplined team to ensure Avangrid Networks capital portfolio is managed efficiently and effectively across all operating companies. The role collaborates with corporate departments involved in the capital expenditures portfolio, providing strategy, direction, and governance for the PMO.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Strategy & Governance – Provide strategic input for capital portfolio prioritization, orchestrate the ISO‑certified governance process, support project teams through governance processes, collaborate with corporate departments, provide analysis and reporting, improve project management competencies, and present reports to executive management.
- Procurement, Material Expediting & Contracts – Ensure Networks business teams efficiently progress through corporate procurement processes, providing centralized procurement coordination, contract management, material expediting, and framework management.
- PMO SAP Purchasing Support – Provide centralized SAP, SRM, and project support to units across Electric, Gas, and Customer‑funded business areas.
- Document Control – Manage document control processes, maintain the enterprise document control system (e.g., ProjectWise), ensure compliance with NERC, CIP, and Avangrid security standards, and partner with global counterparts for process alignment.
- Staffing – Recruit, develop, and lead the multi‑disciplined team that supports the capital portfolio.
- Alignment – Collaborate with corporate departments and business team subject‑matter experts to provide strategy and direction for the Project Management Office.
- Energizing Leadership – Promote a culture of collaboration, efficiency, innovation, and quality, and support continuous growth and development.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years practical experience, at least 7 in portfolio management and accounting/finance.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and lead a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Strong knowledge of PMBOK and regulatory accounting, FERC, NERC, CIP, and related regulations.
- Expertise in portfolio management policies and process improvement.
- Track record of working with senior management and collaborating with other departments and project managers.
- Proven ability to manage and influence in a highly matrixed environment.
- Strong communication skills for concise, informative communications at all levels.
- Excellent written skills, capable of preparing documentation and executive‑level presentations.
- Ability to use data and analytics to diagnose trends and link to business performance outcomes.
- Knowledge of automated portfolio management and scheduling tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP Certification.
