Key Responsibilities
- Monthly coordination calls with Business Class leadership and/or Section managers. Address several key items including:
- Supporting the ongoing development of the Utility Coordination and Design Business Class.
- Identifying upcoming projects and/or pursuits that need support from the National Business Class leadership.
- Reviewing upcoming workload and availability of the business class staff.
- Reviewing utilization reports to identify staffing needs (hiring / workshare). Working with Regional Leadership/Section Managers to support achieving utilization goals for the business class.
- Identify participants (and participate when appropriate) in Project Approach and Resource (PARR) reviews and evaluations.
- Perform project reviews or audits to validate quality practices. When requested, review technical and performance issues on projects, and help to develop remedial action.
- Serving as the focal point for the Transportation Business Group to deliver Utility Coordination and Design related services in collaboration with other complementary Business Group/Market Sector or Business Classes throughout HDR.
An important aspect of this role will be to identify Technical Leadership within the business class that can assist with key projects, programs and initiatives. The Business Class Director will contemplate and participate in the hiring process, promote staff interaction and communication, promote staff technical development and involvement in technical programs, manage workshare and project assignments and provide direct project support in leading select projects or other related assignments. Thus, the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment is a must.
The Director will also participate in select marketing activities by supporting or developing project proposals, staffing assignments, identification of subconsultants and other duties as necessary. Involvement in all phases of project development is expected. This position requires some limited travel to support select project pursuits and delivery nationally.

Location and Travel
The geographic location of this position is nonspecific; however, a location with significant HDR presence is preferred. The average travel requirement is estimated at 15% with monthly variations between 15% and 25%.
Required Qualificationsh3>
- Bachelors degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field
- Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
- Works cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employeeowned culture is a must
