Job Description

CTAC is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support a high-visibility federal program to achieve and sustain an Authority to Operate (ATO) for a complex, multi-tenant AWS based environment. This role is a core member of CTAC's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) delivery team and is responsible for producing, maintaining, and governing the System Security Plan (SSP), control narratives, evidence mappings, POA&Ms, and continuous monitoring artifacts that form the system's authorization package. The Technical Writer will work hand-in-hand with Security Analysts, Cloud Architects, Engineers, and federal stakeholders to ensure that documentation always reflects the actual operational state of the system, not just policy intent. This is not a back-office documentation role, It is an RMF execution role embedded in a client-facing delivery team where documentation, engineering, and evidence generation will occur concurrently. Key Responsibilities: RMF & ATO Documentation Execution Develop, maintain, and govern the System Security Plan (SSP) for a cloud based multi-tenant platform.

Author and maintain control implementation narratives aligned to NIST SP 800-53, including control inheritance models and cloud-specific implementations.

Create and manage objective evidence mappings, ensuring every control is backed by verifiable, assessor-ready artifacts.

Support assessor engagement, walkthroughs, and documentation reviews.

Sprint-Based Delivery Support Participate in two-week sprints, working closely with both engineers, security analysts and stakeholders to ensure documentation, evidence, and engineering outputs remain synchronized.

Update SSPs, policies, procedures, and control narratives as engineering remediation and AWS configuration changes are implemented

Job Requirements

A minimum of three years of experience as a technical writer. Samples required.

Bachelor's degree (required): English, communication, computer science

IT industry knowledge including Cloud technologies and Agile methodologies

Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment

Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills

Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, and diagramming tools such as Visio, OmniGraffle, or comparable tools

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 5 Public Trust Clearance
