Director of IT – Financial Applications
My client in the healthcare industry is seeking a strategic and hands‑on
Director of IT – Financial Applications
to lead, optimize, and support the organization’s financial and revenue cycle applications, with a strong focus on
Epic systems . This leader will serve as the primary liaison between IT and patient accounting/business office operations, ensuring financial systems align with hospital goals, compliance standards, and performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all
financial application systems , with a focus on
Epic Resolute Hospital Billing (HB)
or
Professional Billing (PB) .
Partner closely with Patient Financial Services, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, and Clinical leaders to understand needs and translate them into scalable IT solutions.
Lead and manage a team of analysts, developers, and project managers supporting financial systems and applications.
Oversee
Epic system configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and optimization , ensuring alignment with operational workflows and compliance requirements.
Serve as a subject matter expert in
Epic Resolute Billing, ROI, Deficiency Tracking, CDM, Identity, and Research Billing
as needed.
Ensure data integrity, system performance, reporting accuracy, and compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and other applicable regulations.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and system integration initiatives involving Epic and third‑party financial platforms (e.g., Cerner, McKesson STAR).
Provide governance and leadership on IT projects, budgets, staff development, and system enhancements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Epic certification
in
Resolute HB or PB
(additional certs such as ROI, Identity, Deficiency Tracking, or CDM a plus).
7+ years of IT experience in a
hospital or healthcare system , with 3+ years in a
leadership or director‑level
role.
Proven experience supporting hospital patient accounting and billing departments.
Hands‑on knowledge of systems such as
Epic, McKesson STAR, and Cerner .
Strong understanding of revenue cycle workflows, billing compliance, and reimbursement policies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and vendor management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading cross‑functional EHR implementations or Epic optimization projects.
Familiarity with financial reporting, research billing, and integration between clinical and financial systems.
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across clinical and financial teams.
