The Assistant Superintendent reports to the Director of Golf Courses & Grounds Maintenance and the Superintendent. The ideal candidate will possess a can-do attitude, be energetic, and embrace being in a leadership role. He or she will also be highly motivated, detail-oriented, passionate, comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment, and aspire to climb the career ladder within our industry. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Interact closely and maintain continuity with the Director of Golf Courses & Grounds Maintenance and the Superintendent to ensure golf course conditions consistently meet or exceed membership expectations/standards Integral part in the development and implementation of agronomic plans Intense maintenance of the putting surfaces in regard to aesthetics and playability Supervises special projects and labor crews Ability to analyze and solve problems Multi-task efficiently with minimal supervision Assign job tasks, clearly articulate instructions, and monitor employee performance in the field Training and continued development of staff Pesticide and fertilizer applications Accurate calibration and recording keeping for all fertilizer and pesticide applications Ensure compliance with government regulations and set standards Foster a fun, productive, and safe work environment Monitoring, repairing, programming, and scheduling of Rain Bird irrigation system Assume the role of the Superintendent in his absence Other Accountabilities
Due to the nature of this position, it is impossible to list all things you will be exposed to or ultimately have responsibility for. Because of the fluctuating demands of the club's operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed. Our goal will always be to do what is right to assist Members, guests and other employees to maximize the success and enjoyment of the Club. DIMENSIONS
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Previously held position as either a Spray Technician or Assistant-in-Training EDUCATION:
2- or 4-year degree in Turfgrass Management/Agronomy CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Must possess or obtain within 90 days of hire, a NC pesticide applicator’s license Must possess a valid driver’s license PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Proficient in irrigation systems, equipment management, budgeting, and crew scheduling Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Member/Guest satisfaction oriented with ability to multi-task in fast paced environment SECURITY/CONFIDENTIALITY
