The Business Group Financial Director is a strategic financial executive responsible for driving profitable growth, operational efficiency, and compliance across multiple Platforms (business units) within a Strategic Business Group (SBG) organization. This variance analysis role combines high-level financial planning analysis and management with hands‑on leadership, ensuring accurate forecasting, budgeting, cost optimization, and alignment with corporate performance goals. The position requires exceptional analytical skills, executive‑level communication, and the ability to influence decisions that shape the future of the SBG.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee end‑to‑end financial operations for assigned Platforms, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual).
- Build, maintain, and enhance financial models to evaluate business performance, unit economics, and growth opportunities, conduct risk analysis and scenario modeling.
- Develop long‑term financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives and compliance goals.
- Support corporate strategy initiatives, including capital allocation, and corporate development opportunities.
- Conduct high‑level cost analysis and variance assessments to identify cost‑saving opportunities and drive operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Corporate FP&A team to design and implement scalable reporting frameworks to track key business and operational metrics.
- Present complex financial insights, performance results, and forecasts to senior leadership, the CFO and CEO, and external stakeholders in clear and professional formats.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors.
- Lead capital planning and investment analysis to ensure optimal allocation of resources and support strategic growth initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing robust internal controls and contingency plans.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures through financial due diligence and integration planning.
- Champion business process improvement by evaluating and enhancing financial systems, reporting standards, and operational workflows.
- Lead and mentor finance teams within the business group, promoting analytical rigor and professional development.
- Actively support development of 80‑20 and other business transformation initiatives.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally when necessary (up to 30%).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA/MS or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including oversight of multiple business units or divisions.
- 7+ years of experience building financial models, performing scenario analysis, and translating data into strategic insights.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and drive operational improvements.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Strong communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives.
- Expertise in financial modeling, data analytics, and reporting tools (Excel, various ERP systems and AI‑enabled platforms).
- Experience in vendor evaluation and strategic project management.
