Underwood CD Wildfire Resilience Specialist
Position Description
The Wildfire Resilience Specialist will serve as an integral member of a team of conservation professionals, working in both the field and the office, and will be responsible for wildfire-related conservation services and projects, namely:
Forestry-related technical assistance
Community outreach/education
Mobile chipper service coordination, and
Fuels-reduction projects implementing “Firewise” principles and other best management practices.
Additionally, the Wildfire Resilience Specialist will assist and support District staff in carrying out various other tasks under the District’s annual plan of work.
Compensation Starting at $25-32 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
This position is expected to average 40 hours per week. The UCD office schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30AM until 5:00PM, and either FLSA exempt or non-exempt status allows for approved flexibility of scheduled work hours. The position requires schedule flexibility to accomplish its objectives.
Funding for this position is provided by grants and relies on successful future grant applications. This is a regular, full-time position. Per district policies, this position is at-will and receives all UCD holidays, annual leave, PERS retirement plan, and has the option to enroll in UCD’s health, dental, and vision insurance benefit package, as well as legally mandated benefits (unemployment insurance, labor &industries insurance, Medicare, and sick leave).
