The Cardiothoracic Sales Specialist is responsible for achieving predetermined sales goals and quotas within an assigned territory while developing and maintaining strong relationships with cardiothoracic surgeons, operating room staff, and healthcare professionals. This role is highly clinical and consultative, requiring frequent in-person interaction and operating room presence.
The Cardiothoracic Sales Specialist will maintain expert-level knowledge of Arthrex’s market-leading cardiothoracic product portfolio, with a primary focus on cardiothoracic implants, instruments, and cardiothoracic-based biologics. This role involves consulting surgeons in the operating room on the proper use of products, educating surgeons on innovative sternal closure techniques, and driving adoption of new technologies.
Success in this role requires a strong clinical foundation, sales acumen, comfort in open-operating room environments, and alignment with the culture and values of Arthrex Green Bay.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve and exceed assigned sales goals and territory quotas. Represent Arthrex Green Bay as an independent agency authorized to sell Arthrex products to a sophisticated audience of surgeons and healthcare professionals. Establish, build, and maintain strong professional relationships through consistent communication and regular in-person appointments. Consult with cardiothoracic surgeons in the operating room regarding the use of implants, instruments, and sternal closure systems. Educate cardiothoracic surgeons on proper sternal closure techniques and increase adoption of innovative surgical solutions. Schedule and conduct daily appointments with cardiothoracic surgeons and hospital staff. Increase territory performance by developing and executing strategic sales plans and targeted marketing initiatives. Identify the needs of new prospects and develop appropriate responses through written, telephone, and face-to-face communication. Cross-sell additional products and manage new product introductions as they become available. Communicate product updates, portfolio changes, and educational opportunities to existing and prospective accounts. Address and resolve issues that arise within assigned accounts in a timely and professional manner. Collect competitive intelligence and remain current on industry trends, customer needs, and market dynamics. Participate in sales meetings, training programs, and professional association meetings, including those held outside of standard business hours. Receive coaching, training, and mentoring from Sales Management; share knowledge with peer Sales Representatives and Sales Associates as needed. Maintain ongoing training in sales skills, product features and benefits, anatomy, surgical procedures, and business applications. Demonstrate and mentor adherence to Arthrex Green Bay ’s culture, values, and professional standards. Uphold compliance by maintaining confidentiality, protecting company assets, acting ethically, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, accreditation, licensure requirements, and company policies. Safely lift and transport surgical trays, instruments, and equipment weighing up to thirty-five pounds on a regular basis. Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent cardiothoracic clinical experience. Minimum of 3+ years of orthopedic or cardiothoracic experience, with cardiothoracic experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated sales success in the cardiothoracic implant industry or significant cardiothoracic surgical team or clinical case support experience. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships within the cardiothoracic, orthopedic, or sports medicine market. Comfortable working in open operating room and open-heart surgery environments. Strong understanding of surgical anatomy, procedures, terminology, and operating room protocols. Ability to learn, retain, and apply a high level of technical and clinical information related to surgical products and procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
