Our client, An Am Law 100 firm, is seeking a
mid to senior level Real Estate Finance Associate
to join their national Real Estate Finance Practice, with a strong preference for candidates based in New York. This role is ideal for an associate with 4+ years of broad commercial real estate finance experience who is looking to take on significant responsibility and play a key role in a growing, collaborative national platform. The practice represents a wide range of commercial real estate lenders, including banks, insurance companies, mortgage REITs, debt funds, and other institutional and alternative capital providers. Attorneys regularly advise on loan originations and financings across all major asset classes, including office, retail, multifamily, industrial, mixed‑use developments, hospitality and resort properties, storage facilities, manufactured housing communities, and single‑family rental portfolios. Associates in this group are deeply involved in transactions from inception through closing and post‑closing, working closely with partners and clients to structure, negotiate, and execute complex financings. The team is known for its practical, problem‑solving approach and regularly collaborates with colleagues in tax, capital markets, bankruptcy and restructuring, environmental, litigation, and corporate practices to support clients on complex and distressed matters. Responsibilities
Represent lenders in large, structured commercial real estate finance transactions. Handle loan origination matters, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity structures. Draft and negotiate primary loan documents and related transaction materials. Lead transactions on behalf of lenders from inception through closing and post‑closing. Advise on asset management, workouts, secondary market repurchase facilities, and exit strategies. Collaborate with colleagues nationwide to support complex, multi‑market transactions. Qualifications
4+ years of substantive commercial real estate finance experience. Strong experience with structured CRE transactions, including mezzanine debt and preferred equity. Ability to independently run transactions and manage deal teams. Excellent academic credentials and outstanding research, writing, and communication skills. Admission to the New York Bar required. Competitive base salary, anticipated to range from
$300,000 to $390,000 , depending on experience and qualifications. Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage. 401(k) plan with employer contributions.
