Job Summary The Shop Assistant works with building materials in woodshop or in construction setting.
Responsibilities
Keep work area clean and organized following all OSHA policies and procedures during the use and movement of power, heavy and industrial equipment.
Maintain repair shop tools and assist associates on the proper way to use them.
Possess a general understanding of the warehouse, it’s departments, department management and logistical practice.
Matches building materials to use and space for installation accuracy. Preparing, laying out, cutting and fabricating metal components.
Welding components in a flat, vertical and overhead position.
Creates materials that fit expectations, working from technical engineering drawings if necessary.
Computer knowledge.
Help keep repair practical, cost effective and lasting.
Requirements
Entry level experience welding with Mild Steel and Metal Inert Gas-MIG (10% of job).
Entry level experience in wood work -, create, repair, build, etc. (90% of job).
The ability to utilize skills in other trades such as plumbing, painting and tiling.
Ability to understand and execute a wide variety of construction instructions, 2D and 3D.
Able to read a tape measure while adding and subtracting fractions.
Able to lift and carry 50lbs.
Pay: $16.00/hr.
