An employee-owned company in the construction sector is seeking a skilled Fabricator to join their production team. This role is central to delivering high-quality steel assemblies in accordance with approved shop drawings, contributing directly to the company’s reputation for precision and excellence. The position offers hands-on work in a collaborative and safety-focused environment, with opportunities to work on diverse structural projects. The Role
The Fabricator is responsible for accurately fabricating steel components and assemblies based on shop drawings, ensuring compliance with welding standards and quality procedures. Success in this role means producing precise, high-quality work while maintaining safety, efficiency, and adherence to production schedules. The Fabricator will collaborate with the quality control team and other shop personnel to deliver completed assemblies ready for installation. Responsibilities
Receive approved shop drawings and identify corresponding main members and component parts. Verify materials and dimensions against assigned prints, including lengths, sizes, thicknesses, holes, cuts, and copes. Lay out assemblies with proper placement of components and tacking in preparation for welding. Weld assemblies following shop drawings, WPS, and AWS D1.1 standards. Inspect own work before final QC approval and ensure assemblies meet quality standards. Operate fabrication equipment including saws, welders, plasma cutters, punches, iron workers, grinders, and drills. Perform routine lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and occasional heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs.) safely and efficiently. Complete general housekeeping and assigned laborer tasks in the shop. Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience reading shop drawings and performing steel layout. Experience operating a full range of steel fabrication tools and equipment. Certified welder with working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and WPS usage. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Nice to Have
Experience in an employee-owned company environment. Previous work on structural and miscellaneous steel projects of varying complexity. Salary
