Overview
A leading employee-owned construction company is seeking an experienced Field Foreman to supervise steel erection projects on-site. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of structural and miscellaneous steel installations. The position offers a hands-on leadership opportunity in a safety-focused and collaborative environment, with the chance to mentor and develop a skilled team of ironworkers. The Role
The Field Foreman will oversee daily field operations, including personnel, materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to contract specifications. Success in this role means maintaining safety standards, delivering quality workmanship, and coordinating effectively with project managers, fabrication teams, and on-site personnel. Responsibilities
Serve as OSHA Competent Person on job sites, enforcing safety procedures and standards. Manage daily personnel, materials, and equipment, tracking time and productivity. Interpret construction drawings and specifications to guide field operations. Control the erection of steel structures to meet contract requirements and maintain stability. Coordinate site layout and material deliveries with project managers and fabrication shop. Conduct daily safety meetings and maintain accurate logs of safety and production activities. Manage quality control for welding and bolting procedures in the field. Conduct inspections of tools, equipment, and structural assemblies for safety and quality compliance. Train, mentor, and develop ironworkers on safe and efficient work practices. Communicate effectively with project managers, trades, and team members to ensure smooth operations. Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel erection. Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Certified welder (AWS D1.1 SMAW, Positions 1F–4F & 1G–4G, thickness 1/8”–1”). Completed OSHA 10-Hour Program and Operation Safe Site – Subpart R training. Certified operator of Reach Forklift, Boom, Scissor Lift, and Hilti Powder Actuated Equipment. Certified Rigger. Knowledgeable in AWS and AISC requirements. Strong communication skills and ability to train others. Excellent physical balance and practical judgment on-site. Nice to Have
Experience in an employee-owned company environment. Prior leadership of diverse structural steel projects. Salary
