Overview
A prominent employee-owned construction company is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to lead field operations for structural and miscellaneous steel projects. This senior role ensures that safety, production, and quality standards are met across multiple job sites. It provides a hands-on leadership opportunity, coordinating teams, equipment, and materials while fostering strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. The Role
The Field Superintendent manages field operations from mobilization to project completion, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality standards. Success in this role means delivering projects on schedule, maintaining excellent client relationships, and developing field personnel, including foremen and ironworkers. The superintendent collaborates closely with project managers, fabrication teams, and site personnel. Responsibilities
Maintain and update the company’s Steel Erection Quality and Safety Management procedures.
Coordinate project mobilizations, staffing, equipment, and material requirements.
Manage and enhance field safety programs, introducing new initiatives as needed.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for field teams and clients.
Attend coordination meetings with controlling contractors and other stakeholders.
Verify field dimensions and ensure projects are executed per plans and specifications.
Develop strong relationships with architects, engineers, project managers, and other key personnel.
Conduct Preconstruction Walkthroughs and complete related documentation.
Establish and enforce project-specific safety and quality plans (PSEP and PSSP).
Oversee field calibration, equipment maintenance, and corrective action procedures.
Train, mentor, and develop field foremen and ironworkers.
Assist in recruiting skilled field personnel as needed.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in structural and miscellaneous steel.
At least 5 years of experience as a Field Foreman.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Excellent blueprint reading skills.
OSHA 30-Hour Training or equivalent.
Certified welder.
Strong communication skills.
Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
Nice to Have
Experience in an employee-owned company environment.
Previous management of large-scale steel erection projects.
