Overview
SAP IS‑U Solutions Architect Director
to join the SAP Service Line with 15+ years of experience and a strong background in the Utilities industry. The role leads the overall integrated solution design and implementation across all workstreams for the Build, Testing, and Deploy phases.
Responsibilities
Provide expertise in SAP IS‑U industry best practices.
Deliver utilities industry best practices for design and implementation of integrated SAP IS‑U/CIS solutions.
Work directly with Functional Leads to design and implement integrated Back‑Office (FICA, Billing, DM/AMI, Exceptions Management) and Front Office (Service, Sales) solutions.
Lead solution scope and execution of Conference Room Pilots (CRP) within the Build Phase.
Oversee design/implementation of third‑party integrated solutions critical to client operations.
Govern key non‑SAP solutions and providers critical to integrated solutions (SEW, TRC (GSX) & PayGo).
Advise on Cutover workstream best practices—Cutover approach, Dress Rehearsal, Operational Readiness Testing (Bill Compare, Financial data reconciliation).
Advise on Data Conversion workstream best practices for functional data conversion and reconciliation approach.
Advise on Testing workstream best practices for testing scope, test scenario/case creation, and SIT/UAT execution approach.
Advise on Business Integration (OCM) workstream for functional change impacts and training approach.
Advise on Technical workstream for functional requirements/inputs for integrated environment landscape, performance testing, and Build execution.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure successful deployment of integrated solutions.
Conduct regular system audits and performance reviews to identify and address potential issues.
Mentor and guide junior team members to foster continuous learning and improvement.
Facilitate team and client‑facing workshops to enhance project capabilities and knowledge.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of hands‑on experience in SAP IS‑U implementations, including Billing, FICA, Device Management (DM/AMI), Customer Service, and Work Management.
Deep understanding of SAP ECC and S/4 HANA Utilities, including integration with third‑party systems (SEW, TRC (GSX), PayGo).
Proficiency in solution architecture—blueprinting, configuration, testing (SIT/UAT), and deployment phases.
Experience with cutover planning, dress rehearsals, and operational readiness testing (bill compare, financial reconciliation).
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams across Build, Test, and Deploy phases, overseeing OCM, Data Conversion, and Technical workstreams.
Experience conducting and managing Conference Room Pilots (CRPs) and workshops for solution validation.
Strong governance skills for non‑SAP solutions and vendor management.
In‑depth knowledge of utilities industry best practices, especially in customer information systems (CIS) and SAP IS‑U.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the utilities sector.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills to liaise with business users, IT teams, and external vendors.
Ability to mentor junior consultants and foster continuous learning.
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for complex business requirements.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Business or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or Business.
SAP IS‑U certification.
Salary and Other Compensation The annual salary for this position is between $190,000 to $210,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
