The Company is seeking a Senior Vice President for Government and Community Relations to lead and strategize short- and long-term initiatives in this critical area. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting operational standards, goals, and strategic initiatives for the department, as well as supervising staff to develop and implement political and community-sensitive development strategies. This role involves building and enhancing external relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including elected officials, and ensuring that the company's initiatives are in line with the priorities of the Office of the Mayor. The SVP will also be involved in fostering an integrated communications approach, managing external engagement resources, and preparing senior staff for various public and community-facing events.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 10 years of professional experience, with a background in political campaign, journalism, government affairs, or public relations. The role requires a strategic and analytical thinker with proven leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Experience in New York City land use and public approval processes, as well as legislative and budget processes, is essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to anticipate and devise creative solutions, build coalitions, and interact effectively with diverse constituencies, including senior management, mayoral officials, and business leaders. Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail are also necessary for this position.
