About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Institutional Advancement to lead and direct all aspects of advancement, including development, alumni affairs, and related events. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and managing a highly impactful fundraising program, with a focus on major and principal giving. This role involves working closely with the Executive Vice President and the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing to foster a culture of philanthropy that is widely embraced and drives significant outcomes. The VPIA will also be instrumental in aligning the Institutional Advancement department with academic and research units to maximize philanthropic goals and will oversee the planning and execution of programs that enhance the University's image and support among its various constituencies.
Candidates for the VPIA position at the company should have a powerful connection to the mission and core values of the institution, with at least 15 years' of experience in fundraising and alumni affairs, and a preference for those with a background in a complex higher education environment. The role requires a proven track record in major and principal gift fundraising, as well as experience in leading and managing diverse professional staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of best practices in donor research, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, and a history of securing six and seven-figure gifts. Proficiency in fundraising software, digital marketing, and reporting tools is essential, as is the ability to work with the Microsoft Office Suite. The VPIA will be expected to prioritize the highest levels of major and principal giving and to strategically leverage partnerships with University leadership and other key stakeholders.
