Overview

The Resident Director (RD) is a professional staff member (live on) responsible for the overall functioning of their assigned residential areas. The primary responsibilities include initiating, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating efforts in the residential area that will result in educational, social, and cultural growth for the individual student and the entire living community. The RD at Tulane University fulfills five primary areas within Housing and Residence Life: Staff Supervision, Community Development, Conduct and Crisis Management, Departmental Responsibilities, and Administrative Duties. This position serves as a catalyst for student engagement in the residence hall communities and role models daily interactions with students for student staff. Responsibilities

Ability to demonstrate commitment to personal and departmental development, professionalism, intercultural education, creativity, collaboration, and initiative. Ability to supervise individuals from different backgrounds toward an inclusive, supportive educational environment. Strong administrative and communication skills. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Required Education and/or Experience

Master’s Degree with 1 year of relevant experience in a student affairs or higher education setting (includes graduate assistant work). OR Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of directly related residence life experience. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a relevant field. Crisis response and supervision experience. Compensation Information

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 22.
