Description The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea has an opening for a Retail Sales and Service Associate I.

The Applicant For This Position Will
Stimulate interest in and sell Kentucky artisan products in retail shop using computerized point of sales system.
Acquire skills and knowledge to provide accurate tourist and sales information relating to Kentucky artisans and their products.
Promote cultural heritage attractions, sites, events and activities to visitors through conversations and printed materials.
Maintain assigned product and information areas including researching topics, monitoring inventory and cleaning.
Assist with inventory processing, clerical and other duties as assigned.
This position requires maturity, reliability and self-discipline.
Minimum Requirements EDUCATION:
High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Experience working with the general public in a retail or tourism information setting will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
NONE
Working Conditions: Work typically involves extensive contact with the public and interaction with other Artisan Center staff.
Probationary Period: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
