About the Role
As part of the Marketing & Communications and Business Development (MBD) teams, the Proposal and Content Writer reports directly to the Managing Director of Marketing (CMO) and will also be supervised by the Senior Manager of Proposals and Content. This individual will also work closely with the Managing Director of Client Relations, the attorney-business development team, the case development team, and other firm members to facilitate best-in-class approaches to position the firm to win new business and maintain and grow current client relationships.
This position is heavily focused on RFPs, awards, and other business development pursuits. As a member of a small department, you will be expected to collaborate with colleagues on other projects as needed and as the RFP workload permits.
Key Responsibilities
Write and edit Request for Proposal (RFP) responses from beginning to end with support and oversight from a senior manager.
Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Proposals and Content, attorneys, and fellow business professionals to develop a compelling proposal response strategy with a high degree of tailoring to the client’s needs and requests.
Work with the senior manager, attorneys, and paralegals to proofread, finalize, and submit quality proposals within deadlines, and manage the calendar of expected proposals to ensure no opportunities are missed.
Create post-RFP materials that help prepare attorneys for client interviews.
Maintain a repository of proposal templates and other materials to streamline proposal development, including tracking and reporting win/loss statistics.
Alongside the senior manager, establish and continuously refine RFP processes, templates, workflows, and tracking and reporting mechanisms.
Display a continual focus on process improvement and efficiency. For example, help identify inefficiencies in the RFP process and develop plans to address them.
Possess strong motivation and intellectual curiosity to understand the securities litigation landscape and the firm’s client base and bring new ideas to the firm.
Develop and maintain a calendar of relevant awards and accolades, and coordinate the submission process, including drafting and submitting materials, with oversight from the senior manager.
Support the Managing Director of Marketing and other marketing colleagues with other projects as assigned.
Position Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred.
A minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably in professional services.
Prior experience in RFP writing at an investment firm, asset management firm, professional services firm, or a law firm.
Strong work ethic, internal client-service mindset, and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to a high-quality work product.
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise messaging.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to prioritize workload, handle several projects simultaneously, and complete tasks within the deadline in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated critical thinking, creativity, and technical skills.
Ability to work at the highest levels with business acumen and in a matrixed organization.
Comfortability working closely with senior leadership on high priority deadline-driven projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Experience using content management, document management, and proposal building software; Qorus experience is a plus
Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evening or weekend work during peak periods (approximately once every six weeks).
This is a full-time, exempt position based in New York City.
This is a hybrid role (3 days in-office (Tuesday and Wednesday required); 2 days work-from-home)
