The Student Ambassador assists the Office of Institutional Advancement by providing frontline support and assistance to donors, alumni, prospective donors, and guests via phone call, text, system management, and excellent constituent service. Key Responsibilities
Serve as a representative of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College within the Office of Institutional Advancement. Actively communicate with donors, alumni, prospective donors, and guests via phone, email, and text. Work to achieve institutional goals including (but not limited to) fundraising, communication campaigns, and systems processes. Explain the value propositions of SWBTS to donors, prospective donors, and guests, and participate in gratitude processes such as thank‑you notes, call campaigns, and scholarship communication. Coordinate weekly communication campaigns and campus visits with the Digital Development Officer/Data Specialist and the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Assist with on‑campus events, including Institutional Advancement Events and Campus Tours. Conduct daily business functions to ensure delivery of core value propositions to donors, alumni, prospective donors, and guests, including call campaigns, system management (gift processing, financial processing, gratitude processes, scholarship process, convention planning). Communication Support
Understand the giving, stewardship, and gratitude processes. Serve as the first line of contact for donors, prospective donors, alumni, and guests via inbound/outbound phone calls, emails, and texts. Make phone calls to constituents regarding expressions of gratitude and call campaigns, maintaining professionalism and proper phone etiquette. Provide excellent communication and customer service to all constituents. Serve prospective students with proper phone etiquette and a friendly, informative demeanor. Conduct daily business operations: Enter all interactions into the Slate database and check the Institutional Advancement email inbox. Answer constituent inquiries. Execute call‑campaigns. Process gifts, communication, and fulfill business processes. Communicate with Development Officers regarding meaningful interactions with prospective donors and constituents. Essential Job Measurables
Complete more than 10,000 phone calls in a calendar year. Respond to inbound emails within one working business day, or appropriately direct them. Answer Institutional Advancement phone calls within one to two rings. Deliver, manage, or respond to texts and emails within the communication process. Respond to inbound communication within one business day. Collaborate regularly with supervisor to discuss performance and set goals. Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the team and institutional goals. Specific Skills And Qualifications
Possess a bachelor’s degree (completed or in process). English required; bilingual speaking abilities desired. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Strong people skills with the ability to clearly communicate the mission, policies, and procedures. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); ability to adapt to new systems such as recruiting CRM databases. Detail oriented; ability to coordinate activities simultaneously and communicate courteously. Comfortable on the phone and cold‑calling prospective donors and constituents. Accurate recording of data within CRM (Slate). Well‑written email and text communication. Preferred experience with sales, customer service, and CRM databases. Critical thinking, problem solving, and customer inquiry resolution. Understanding of theological education and Christian higher education. High level of customer service to constituents and families. Self‑starter with administrative ability. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate as part of a team. Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations; respond promptly to customer needs. Maintain confidentiality; listen without interrupting; self‑controlled. Successful completion of background check, education verification, work verification, and credit check may be required. Proof of U.S. work authorization and identity required.
