Overview
As a Carrier Sales Representative, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with carriers to ensure freight is moved efficiently, cost-effectively, and reliably. You will negotiate rates, secure capacity, and monitor shipments from start to finish, playing a critical role in our logistics operations. This role demands strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Key Responsibilities
Carrier Relationship Management:
Develop and maintain relationships with motor carriers and other transportation providers. Load Coverage:
Secure capacity for customer freight by sourcing and booking carriers across various lanes and equipment types. Rate Negotiation:
Negotiate competitive rates with carriers while maintaining margin goals. Shipment Tracking:
Monitor active shipments to ensure on-time pickup and delivery; proactively communicate any issues or delays to the appropriate teams. Problem Resolution:
Address and resolve service failures, accessorial charges, or other operational issues with carriers. Carrier Onboarding:
Vet and onboard new carriers, ensuring compliance with safety and insurance standards. Market Insight:
Stay current with market trends, capacity, and rate fluctuations to inform decisions and provide insights to the team. CRM/Data Entry:
Maintain accurate records of all carrier interactions, rate agreements, and load details in the TMS system (Mcleod Power Broker). Qualifications
Experience:
1–3 years of experience in carrier sales, logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage preferred. Skills:
Excellent negotiation and communication skills; ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment; strong multitasking and organizational abilities. Technology:
Proficiency with Mcleod Power Broker, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite. Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required with relevant experience. Compensation
Pay:
Starting compensation begins at $60,000, with total pay reflecting relevant experience and individual performance.
