Advanced Metals Machining is a precision metal component manufacturer serving aerospace, defense, satellite, optical, and commercial industries looking to add a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to our growing team. Job Purpose
The primary responsibilities of this position are to source, negotiate, and procure raw materials, components, tooling, and services required for machining and manufacturing operations. This role ensures timely delivery, cost efficiency, and supplier quality while supporting production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
Source and purchase raw materials, tooling, fixtures, consumables, and outsourced services for manufacturing. Develop and maintain relationships with approved suppliers and vendors. Request, evaluate, and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers. Issue purchase orders and monitor order status to ensure on-time delivery. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to understand material and tooling requirements. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier data, and inventory levels within the ERP/MRP system. Identify cost-reduction opportunities through supplier consolidation, alternate sourcing, and value analysis. Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, or discrepancies. Support inventory management efforts to minimize shortages and excess stock. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations. Skills/Qualifications/Requirements
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. (Or equivalent experience) 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a machining or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of machining materials, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Working knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, and or NADCAP quality programs. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems. Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Office. (Excel, Word, Outlook) Physical Requirements
While performing the responsibilities of the Purchasing Specialist position, the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is often required to sit for extended time periods. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Schedule
