About the Role You’ll prepare delicious, nutritious meals for clients, volunteers, and staff—tailored to individual dietary needs (including special and modified diets)—so everyone can enjoy food that supports their health and wellbeing. You’ll also help plan menus, uphold food safety and hygiene, and keep our kitchen running smoothly.
Your Key Responsibilities
Plan menus collaboratively with clients and the Manager—balancing taste, nutrition, budget, and dietary requirements
Prepare and serve hot, appetising meals with excellent presentation
Champion food safety daily: correct labeling/date marking, safe storage, PPE, temperature checks, and hygiene practices
Keep the kitchen spotless—ovens, microwaves, fridges, cupboards—aligned with Health Regulations
Support small functions: shopping and preparation
Manage supplies: stock control for utensils, crockery, and cutlery
Be a great teammate: clear communication, quality improvement participation, emergency readiness, accurate reporting and record‑keeping
What We’re Looking For Must‑haves:
Experience in a similar cooking/kitchen role (commercial, community, healthcare)
Completion of Food Safe / Food Hygiene training (or willingness to complete—MSWA supports training)
Ability to develop healthy, budget‑friendly menus and plate meals that look and taste great
High standards of cleanliness and safety
NDIS Worker Screening Check & NDIS Orientation Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Nice‑to‑haves:
Experience working with people with disabilities
Understanding of modified diets and texture‑modified meals
Familiarity with the National Disability Standards
