Sam’s Club is redefining how merchandising decisions are made—moving from traditional, product-centric models to agile, cross-functional squads focused on end-to-end solutions. As a Senior UX Designer – Merchant Tools, you will shape the digital platforms merchants use to determine what to buy, how much to buy, where to place it, and how it gets to our clubs. This hands-on role is ideal for a designer who thrives at the intersection of UX, merchandising, and platform strategy. You’ll be a subject-matter expert on buy planning, pricing, and item setup—translating complex workflows and data into intuitive tools that empower merchants to move faster and make smarter decisions, ensuring our members have the right products at the right time. What you’ll do

Design Merchant-Facing Tools : Lead UX initiatives for core merchandising and replenishment platforms, including buy planning, pricing, item setup, and inventory with suppliers. Translate Complexity Into Clarity : Partner directly with merchants to turn intricate merchandising and supply chain decisions into intuitive, actionable experiences. Champion Cross-Functional Collaboration : Operate as an embedded member of product, engineering, data, and business squads—actively contributing from early ideation through delivery and iteration. Break Down Silos & Foster Teamwork : Collaborate with the broader design team to ensure shared vision, consistency, and design excellence across all merchant tools; proactively coordinate with partners to facilitate alignment and knowledge-sharing. Build Scalable, Connected Solutions : Apply platform thinking to design systems and workflows that integrate across the Sam’s Club ecosystem—enabling reuse, flexibility, and long-term business agility. Leverage Research & Data : Conduct and synthesize user research, behavioral analytics, competitor studies, and member insights to inform design decisions and influence product strategy. Influence Stakeholders with Clarity : Communicate complex ideas simply, align diverse partners, and build consensus in ambiguous, high-impact contexts. Iterate Relentlessly : Prototype, test, and refine solutions to reduce friction, improve decision-making, and increase merchant efficiency and confidence. What you’ll bring

Senior-level UX experience designing complex enterprise or platform tools , ideally within retail, merchandising, supply chain, or other data-rich environments. Demonstrated expertise in interaction design, prototyping, usability testing, and visual systems

—comfortable taking projects from discovery to execution. Strong domain curiosity or experience in merchandising , buy planning, pricing, assortment, and supplier/regional strategies. A platform mindset , with the ability to design systems that excel individually and connect across a broader product ecosystem. Proven strength in collaborating cross-functionally

with product managers, engineers, merchants, and business leaders. A collaborative spirit

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and may include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location. Health benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage. Financial benefits include 401(k), stock purchase, and company-paid life insurance. Paid time off benefits include PTO, parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting. PTO/PPTO accrues per job classification and length of employment and meets or exceeds applicable paid sick leave laws. Minimum & Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications : Outline of required qualifications. Options include: Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 3 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 5 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Preferred Qualifications : Design certification (for example, IDEO U Foundations in Design Thinking), experience driving product development in a user experience area, advanced degrees in related fields, industry experience in retail/supply chain/eCommerce, accessibility expertise (WCAG 2.2 AA) and inclusive digital experiences.
