TITLE: Part-Time MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS & CREATIVE CONTENT COORDINATOR (up to 20 hrs/week) Reports to: Executive and Artistic Director Location: Hybrid (Greensboro, VT + predominantly remote) Classification: Part-time, Non-exempt, Hourly Schedule: Year-round, up to 20 hours per week with seasonal variation Organization: Circus Smirkus is a nonprofit arts and education organization dedicated to inspiring youth through the joy and discipline of circus arts. Through Smirkus Camp, Big Top programs, and School Residencies, we create transformative experiences that celebrate creativity, community, and the belief that everyone belongs. Position Summary
The Marketing, Communications, and Creative Content Coordinator increases visibility, enrollment, and audience engagement for Smirkus Camp, Big Top programs, and Smirkus School Residencies. The role focuses on social media content creation and platform management, promotional campaigns, digital advertising, and coordinated messaging across email, web, and social platforms. This position also offers growth potential, including the opportunity to expand into broader marketing and communications leadership as programs evolve. Key Responsibilities
Promotional Marketing & Campaigns: Develop and execute marketing strategies for Camp enrollment, Big Top ticket sales, and School Residency bookings. Promotional Marketing & Campaigns: Manage seasonal marketing calendars and campaign timelines. Promotional Marketing & Campaigns: Track performance metrics and adjust tactics to improve reach and conversions. Content Creation: Write clear, engaging content for emails, newsletters, website pages, social media outlets, and other channels. Content Creation: Tailor messaging for families, schools, donors, and community partners. Content Creation: Manage digital ad placement and performance (Meta, Google, newsletters, online publications). Content Creation: Support budgeting, targeting, and reporting. Content Creation: Maintain relationships with media outlets, community calendars, and partner organizations. Email Marketing: Build and schedule promotional email campaigns (Mailchimp or similar). Email Marketing: Manage segmentation and lists; track engagement and conversions. General Marketing Support: Maintain updated marketing assets (photos, graphics, templates, brand guidelines). General Marketing Support: Assist with press releases and media outreach. General Marketing Support: Attend select events for content gathering. General Marketing Support: Support additional communications tasks as needed. Qualifications
Required 3+ years experience in marketing, communications, or related field (nonprofit/youth programs a plus). Strong writing and editing skills. Experience with digital advertising platforms (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads). Proficiency with email marketing tools (Mailchimp or similar). Basic design skills (Canva or similar). Ability to manage multiple projects independently. Collaborative, flexible, and aligned with Smirkus’ mission. Preferred Technical Skills Website CMS experience (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar). Google Analytics or other analytics tools. Basic photography or videography skills. Experience managing or creating social media content. This role is intentionally structured for long-term growth with potential areas of expansion including independently leading social media content creation and platform management, leading organization-wide brand storytelling, and increasing hours during peak seasons or as programs grow. Growth will be supported based on organizational needs, demonstrated skill, and employee interest. Physical Requirements
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs for event materials. Ability to travel to Greensboro, VT for select events or meetings. Time Commitment & Work Environment
Up to 20 hours per week, year-round. Flexible scheduling with seasonal variation in workload. In 2026 anticipated hours are: Jan-May up to 20 hours per week; June-Aug up to 5 hours per week; Sept-Dec up to 10 hours per week. Hybrid remote work is possible, with some in-person collaboration and program attendance (especially during summer) preferred but not required. Compensation
