A premier hospital in Northern California is seeking an accomplished Maternal Child Health RN Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple areas of maternal and child health. This is a high-impact role suited for an experienced nursing executive who brings both clinical expertise and the vision to advance quality, safety, and performance in a leading healthcare environment.

Position Overview

The Maternal Child Health RN Director will lead all aspects of patient care within Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and related maternal-child departments. This individual will establish best-practice care models, ensure compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate patient outcomes and staff engagement. The Director will work closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to achieve excellence in patient experience, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor best-practice standards in maternal and child health services
  • Provide strategic direction for staffing, clinical operations, and patient care delivery systems
  • Partner with medical staff, external providers, and leadership to ensure safe, quality care across the continuum
  • Lead investigations and resolutions of patient and family care concerns
  • Manage budgets, resources, and staff assignments to optimize operational effectiveness
  • Maintain clinical expertise and serve as a role model for evidence-based nursing practice
  • Oversee compliance with licensing, accreditation, and patient safety standards

Qualifications

  • BSN required ; Masters degree required (MSN or related healthcare field)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in patient care delivery
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role with direct reports
  • Minimum of 2 years managing operational or project budgets
  • Proven Maternal Child Health/Labor & Delivery background
  • Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations and drive quality improvement

Preferred Experience

  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards
  • Proven record of success leading quality and performance improvement initiatives
  • Ability to analyze data and implement strategic decisions to improve outcomes
