Primary Purpose:
Provide supervision, leadership, and monitor the Special Services programs (federal programs, health services, State Compensatory, MTSS, PRS, 504, guidance and counseling) across the district.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Three years’ experience as a classroom teacher
Texas Teacher Certification
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Extensive knowledge of federal programs, health services, state compensatory education
Ability to use data
Experience in central office preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Collaborate and work cooperatively with administrators and staff to oversee the programs authorized under Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV, and Title V.
Consult with district administrative staff and provide directions on various topics such as potential legal difficulties involving 504 students, disciplinary proceedings involving 504.
Consult with parents, teachers and principals regarding appropriate recommendations and direction of programs serving…
Supervise and monitor the counseling and guidance department.
Assist staff in identifying, understanding, and solving instructional problems.
Evaluate effectiveness of programs, assess student progress, and provide positive leadership.
Maintain up-to-date information on legal issues and requirements of federal programs.
Assist in selection and hiring of Student Services personnel.
Prepare and administer the budget for state and federal funding.
Monitor the budget and approve the distribution of all supplies, materials and equipment used by Titles I, II and V, State Compensatory, health services, and staff.
Prepare and submit applications and amendments to TEA for state and federal funding sources.
Assist with the identification and support district goals in daily activities.
Review and analyze data to identify programmatic needs.
Collaborate with campus principals to ensure program operations are consistent with district goals.
Ability to manage multiple budgets accurately.
Able to use data to develop reports.
Prepare weekly updates for the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction regarding areas of responsibility and issues thatli>
Work collaboratively with district and campus administrators to develop and recommend staffing formulas that address identified needs within established cost-effective parameters.
Provide leadership for the PEIMS department in building campus capacity in acquiring, analyzing, and reporting data pertaining to students in programs.
Plan, manage summer school, credit recovery, and other enrichment programs.
Maintain updates and compliance with student code of conduct and handbook.
Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
Equipment Used Personal computer, printer, copier, and FAX machine.
Working Conditions Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress; occasional district-wide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, sitting, and keyboarding. Position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds to waist high.
