Hours will vary based on event schedules, marketing deadlines, and festival needs. Evening and weekend work is required, particularly for performances and special events at Stuart’s Opera House and the Nelsonville Music Festival. Limited daytime and remote hours may be scheduled as needed for planning, coordination, reporting, and event or ticketing setup. Mission:

Stuart’s Opera House is a nonprofit organization, a historic theater, and the producer of the Nelsonville Music Festival. Stuart’s is the cornerstone of the historic public square in Nelsonville and is dedicated to its role as a regional leader in the arts community, a center for public expression, and an economic development partner for southeastern Ohio. Stuart’s also implements a dynamic arts education program and offerings for all ages.

Position Summary:

The Associate Marketing Director supports the Director of Marketing in executing and managing marketing, communications, and audience engagement efforts for Stuart’s Opera House, the Nelsonville Music Festival (NMF), and related programs. This is a hands‑on, creative, and highly organized position responsible for day‑to‑day marketing operations, content creation, ticketing setup and announcements, and merchandise support.

This position plays a critical role in sustaining ticket sales, festival visibility, fundraising efforts, donor cultivation, and community engagement for a non‑profit organization that produces over 75 events annually and a nationally recognized music festival. The Associate Marketing Director works closely with the Marketing Director to ensure timely, accessible, and high‑quality marketing output across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities Marketing Operations & Content Execution

Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns for shows, Nelsonville Music Festival, fundraisers, and special events.

Draft, schedule, and manage social media content across Stuart’s Opera House, Nelsonville Music Festival, and Afterschool Music Program channels, including monitoring activity on all social platforms, responding to comments and direct messages, and actively engaging with artists, festivals, and partner organizations.

Draft and deploy press releases, radio copy, and promotional language for local, regional, and national media outlets.

Collaborate with the Development Director on donor‑facing communications, including fundraising campaigns, monthly e‑newsletters that support storytelling, donor relations, and audience engagement.

Maintain and manage email contact lists and basic reporting.

Social Media, Video, & Digital Advertising

Assist with the development, execution, and monitoring of paid campaigns (Meta, TikTok, Google, etc.) for ticketed events, fundraising campaigns, and organizational initiatives.

Lead short‑form video creation, including filming, editing, and publishing content for Instagram Reels and TikTok, with a primary focus on managing and growing the Nelsonville Music Festival TikTok account.

Support data tracking and reporting related to social engagement, ticket sales, email performance, ad performance, and website traffic.

Graphic Design & Printed Materials

Support design of digital and print assets including social graphics, show flyers, fundraising collateral, and upcoming event sheets.

Create digital and/or printed programs for main stage shows and special events.

Ensure all materials align with established brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and visual consistency.

Ticketing, Website, & SEO Support

Support the setup and management of ticketing pages and event listings across Tixr, our websites, social platforms, and community calendars.

Assist with maintaining accurate, engaging event information and applying basic SEO best practices to improve visibility and discoverability.

Street Team & Community Promotion

Support grassroots marketing efforts for our events, including flyering and community outreach throughout Southeast Ohio.

Assist with the recruitment, coordination, and management of Nelsonville Music Festival street team members across the state of Ohio and select out‑of‑state markets.

Oversee the physical and online gift shop, ensuring displays are organized and labeled correctly.

Track inventory levels and assist with restocking and new product orders as needed.

Assist with shipping and fulfillment for online orders as needed.

Supervise operations at the Nelsonville Music Festival merchandise tent, which includes managing NMF‑branded merchandise, Stuart’s Opera House items, and artist merchandise.

Skills & Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated copywriting experience.

Proven content creation abilities across social media, email, and digital platforms.

Proficiency in Canva and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (intermediate or advanced design skills a plus).

Experience creating and editing short‑form video content, with demonstrated success on TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

High attention to detail.

Self‑starter mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.

Familiarity with Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads.

Experience with SEO, Google Analytics, and performance reporting.

Experience managing email marketing platforms.

Preference given to those with experience working in the performing arts industry, festivals, tourism, or nonprofit sectors.
