Reports to: Carrier Team Lead

Position Purpose As a Carrier Account Executive you will work in coordination with the sales team to cover current and future shipments. This role will rely on developing and maintaining relationships with carriers to execute customer's freight, with on-time service as top priority. To succeed in this role, it is crucial to be proactive and confident on the phone, commit to regular call outs to maximize networking opportunities, and embracing the task of making large outbound call volumes to reach the proper capacity solution for customer's needs.

Responsibilities

Capacity Focus:

Cover customer freight; execute loads on-time and for a profit.

Maintain the adaptability necessary to support both transactional & dedicated carriers.

Manage current carriers.

Develop new carriers to cover customer's evolving needs.

Work closely with RFG Leasing Manager to promote trailer leases to dedicated carriers, thereby enhancing cross-company revenue and profitability.

Promote the use of various fleet programs such as fuel discount cards, and quick pay programs.

Communication:

Proactively communicate with customer team to address carriers ETA, change requests, or issues that arise.

Prompt and professional responses to carrier's requests.

Complete tracking of carriers from time of hire until load completion.

Carrier booking and contracting:

Working through various sources to cover assigned customer loads. (i.e. load boards and contacts)

Vetting carriers prior to hiring.

Onboarding valid carriers into TMS.

Correctly dispatching each truck hired to cover all pertinent details to effectively haul the customer's load.

Track, analyze, and report on carrier performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions when necessary.

Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years in a relevant role within the transportation or logistics industry, ideally working directly with carriers; preference will be given to candidates with experience in dry bulk transportation.

Industry Awareness:

Demonstrate a solid understanding of the logistics market including industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities; Display familiarity with various truck transportation modes (e.g. bulk, dry van, refrigerated, flatbed, etc.).

Knowledge of Transportation Regulations & Compliance Requirements:

Possess a working knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements to ensure adherence to legal standards.

Sense of Urgency:

Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and respond promptly to the dynamic demands of the logistics environment.

Exceptional Time Management:

Consistently complete all required tasks on time, displaying a keen understanding of time-sensitive logistics operations.

Accurate Data-Entry Skills:

Showcase proficiency in data entry, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and employing effective review processes to maintain data accuracy.

Highly Organized:

Possess strong organizational skills to prevent errors and maintain smooth operations in a fast-paced logistics setting.

Problem-Solving:

Exhibit a proactive and solution-oriented mindset, thinking creatively to address challenges and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Develop negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and agreements with shippers, carriers, and other logistics partners.

Sales and Relationship Building Skills:

Cultivate strong relationships with carriers and customers, promoting a collaborative and positive work environment.

Flexibility and Adaptability:

Adapt to changing priorities and handle unexpected challenges with a flexible and adaptable mindset.

Geographical Proficiency:

Thorough knowledge of US and North American geography, including major cities, transportation hubs, key highways, and interstates. The ability to leverage this knowledge to optimize routing and logistics operations is crucial.

Ability to perform accurate mileage calculations using various online resources and transportation planning tools

High School Diploma or GED Required . Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
